Using eSalah

Short version

• Use the site in good faith. Don't abuse, scrape, or overload it.
• Prayer times are computed from astronomical formulas — accurate but not a substitute for local moonsighting where your community follows one.
• Mosque listings are community-sourced. Check directly with the mosque for Jumu'ah times, facilities, and current status.
• Reviews and claims must be truthful. We remove abusive content.

Prayer times

We compute prayer times using the PrayTimes.org algorithm with the calculation method your country or city specifies. The times are astronomically accurate for the coordinates we use but:

• Some communities follow local moonsighting or a specific mosque's schedule — defer to those where they apply.
• Our city coordinates are population-centroid estimates; a mosque at the edge of a metro area may have slightly different sun angles.
• We do not account for daily micro-variations in atmospheric refraction. Published times are "book" times.

Mosque directory

Listings are contributed by users and mosque trustees. We verify claims through email, documents, or phone calls before granting edit access. Even with that process, listing accuracy is not guaranteed — we strongly recommend confirming Jumu'ah times, women's prayer areas, accessibility, and opening hours with the mosque directly before your first visit.

Reviews and content

Reviews pass through moderation before they appear publicly. We remove content that:

• Targets individuals by name with hostile accusations.
• Promotes sectarianism or inter-community hostility.
• Is commercial spam or off-topic.
• Contains personal contact information for other users.

Mosque owners (verified claimants) can flag reviews on their own listing for admin attention. Repeatedly abusive review submissions can result in account suspension.

API and embed use

Our public API (/api/v1/*) and embeddable widget (/embed/times.js) are free to use under a reasonable-use rate limit (60 requests/min per IP for unauthenticated calls). If you need higher limits for a legitimate project, get in touch.

Do not use our API to build a scraping pipeline or to power a competing directory. Attribution to eSalah (with a link) is appreciated but not mandatory.

eSalah is provided as-is. We make our best effort to keep prayer times accurate and listings current, but we make no warranties. Your ability to observe prayer in the right window, to reach the mosque you expected, or to find a listing that matches reality remains your responsibility and the community's.
